Catching Up

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

I guess I’ve slacked in blogging lately!  It does take time, even if I just post a picture, but I enjoy keeping track of the every day happenings around our house so that we can look back at remember what was “normal” to us at the time.

Here’s just a little bit of this and that over the last week or so.

Michaela, Benjamin, and Johanna all tested last week in Tae Kwon  Do and moved up a belt level.  They not only had to know their forms and kicks, they also had to memorize several Bible verses and truths.

Can you say TOMORROW?!!?!?!  :)   Wow, it’s finally time.  We are pretty well packed up and ready to go.  We leave the house at 6am to catch our flight out of Japan.  Just a hop over the Japan Sea and we’ll be in Ami and Elijah’s birth country.

We had a special family time around dinner tonight.  Jennifer baked a cake for Elijah and they sang “Here We Come Elijah” to the tune of Happy Birthday.  It has been neat to share our excitement with my family here and share what’s going on, our feelings, etc.  It will be hard to say good-bye, yet much easier than if we were just returning to the States from a “normal” trip.  We have 5 very special nieces and nephews here that we wish we could see growing up every day.

We will probably password protect our site just until Monday.  It is the same password we used before.  Just send us an email if you’d like the password.  We just need to do this due to some legality things.  Hopefully tomorrow we can post some special family photos.  If you are awake, be praying for us around 1am Missouri time on Thursday morning.  :)   God is good!  Here we go!!!

Bragging

Is it okay to brag on my boy, since at this point I can’t personally accept any praise for great child rearing?  Great, I thought it would be okay.  :)   There is a mission team at PHF this week and they are reporting back to our PHF parents yahoo group about some of the kids and events of the day.  They are there loving on our kids and praying over each of them.  Steve wrote, “Elijah is the sweetest because he is either picking up the disabled kids who fell or putting one of the little ones on his lap.”  Is this kid great, or what?!  I am so proud of him.  He has been through more than we can ever imagine or fully understand, yet this is just one more instance where we have seen his heart of gold.  Thank you God for this resiliency within Elijah.
