He cried

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

No, actually he sobbed.  My parents got him a DVD for his birthday, the Jesus Film, The Story of Jesus for Children in Chinese.  When it came to the part of Jesus being on trial his eyes filled with tears and at the crucifixion he was sobbing.  Oh my tender-hearted boy!!  I couldn’t help but cry with him.  So amazing to see this “story” through his eyes for the first time.  He was much relieved after the resurrection, but it took a while for him to be fully relaxed and breathing normally again.  Wow.  If only I felt that emotion every time I heard/read/saw the story of my Saviour.  After the movie was done I asked him on the electronic translator if he had heard that story before.  He said he had.  I am so thankful for the foundation he received at PHF, for the mission teams that visit and share VBS with the kids.  I’m sure this was the first time he “saw” the story though and it definitely had an impact on him.  This is the first time I have seen him cry, what a memory.  I know Our Father has big plans in store for this tender-hearted boy and I can’t wait to see what they are!

Happy Birthday, Elijah!!

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

It was a special day as we got to celebrate Elijah’s 10th birthday with him.  We went out to eat at a Chinese restaurant for his birthday meal and he chose the traditional long noodles to help him have a long life.  :)   He is not big on sweets, but loves ice-cream, so we had an ice-cream cake that was yummy.  He was also excited about his pile of presents.  We hope that this first birthday at home will be memorable for him, even though we kept it low key.  He is a joy to be around and we pray for many more years together!

P.S.  Elijah sat without too much wiggling in church again and also attended Sunday school today.  Chris stayed with him and said he did great!
