Wednesday, August 29th, 2007There’s no place like home
Sunday, August 12th, 2007We’re finally back home… whew! It was a great trip and we’re very thankful for God’s provision for our family… nobody got sick and we even had a back tire separate coming across eastern Utah (the outer rubber layer flew off in chunks, which isn’t a fun thing at 75 mph). Here are just a few pictures from this past week.
Jeremy (Jocelyn’s brother) and Janice’s wedding last Sunday:
They have a nice house in San Rafael and we went by to see them Monday morning. They were saying bye to both Janice’s family and the Clark gang, as everyone was heading off in different directions:
Monday we finally turned our wheels toward home and left for Lake Tahoe, CA. We stopped by the Christian Center in Tahoe City on our way out Tuesday morning, where Jocelyn’s dad preached many years ago:
We took the “Loneliest Highway in America” across Nevada, just for the experience… and it’s quite a study in the stark beauty of desolation! It’s worth doing once, but if you are trying to get across that state in good time, take the interstate. One curiosity along the way is the “shoe tree”. I’m sure it has a web page somewhere. We had to throw a couple pairs up too. ![]()
Thursday and Friday we were in the Colorado Springs, CO area. Pike’s Peak is awesome, at over 14,000 feet in elevation:
We had heard the chapel at the Air Force Academy was worth seeing, and very true:
Yesterday, Saturday 8/11, we left beautiful Colorado and stayed the night in Kansas (man, talk about a major change of scenery!
) and drove on home today. Nice to be back.
Yosemite!
Thursday, August 2nd, 2007Sunday night (7/29) through today (Thursday) we spent camping in Yosemite National Park with Jocelyn’s parents, Paul and Rickie Clark, and her sister’s family, the Huddlestons. The views take your breath away (literally! Hiking is either up or down, and it starts at 4000 feet just in the Valley) and it’s all very awe-inspiring. We drove up to Tuolomne Meadows where the kids got to wade around, hiked up to Vernal Falls, and also went up to Glacier Point (where the rock face drops from 7000 feet all the way down to the valley!). It was a great experience with the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins!

California Dreamin’
Thursday, August 2nd, 2007We got to Riverside, California on Thursday, 7/26 for several days with our friends, Kevin and CJ Eperjesi and their two sons, Ryan and Sean. CJ is an old college friends of ours and it’s always a joy seeing their family! Thanks for letting us really break-in your new washing machine, CJ! ;D
Friday we visited Jocelyn’s alma mater Pacific Christian College:

It was also Beach Day, and we got to bask in the warm California sun once again…
That Saturday we had lunch with Jocelyn’s brother Jonathan and his wife Yuki. It was also her birthday and they had hats for all of us! ;D They took us out for mini golfing that afternoon which was a fun for everyone.

We also got to have dinner with friends David and Caroline Frederick and their daughter Megan. We traveled together last Fall on our trip to China, so Megan is kind of a “sister” to Ami. The girls had a lot of fun playing together and we enjoyed getting to know the Fredericks better.
Sunday we left for Yosemite National Park, so more on that later.
